Your adventure to K'gari lifts off at the Hervey Bay Helipad! All aboard the helicopter you fly from the mainland to the western side of the Island, hovering low over the pristine Fraser Coastline. The scenery is sensational - a perfect opportunity to snap some postcard like photos as you spin your way over the winding estuarine waterways that empty into the Bay, the pure white sands of the tidal Pelican Bank and the majesty of the glistening Lake Mckenzie perched in the middle of Fraser Island.

You land at the Helipad on Fraser Island and catch a ride on a tour bus to the King Fisher Bay Resort. A private 4WD vehicle stocked with supplies awaits your arrival. Time to explore the resort & its surrounds before following the tracks to the other side of the island carved out by the timber trucks, carrying wood-chip, before all logging was banned on Fraser Island in the middle of last century .

On the first of a number of bumpy rides in the four-wheel you traverse the island with a stop-off at Eurong Beach Resort - the largest of the four resorts on the island's eastern beach. You are now one of the fortunate 0.01 percent of the world's population who get to leave their footprints on the beach of this world heritage listed natural wonder. Away from the safety of the Bay, the open side of the island is an oasis for beach fishing enthusiasts and home to a host of hungry sharks - accustomed to a tasty fare...

Most swimming and water sports on K'gari take place in and around the perched inland lakes and the coastal creeks, fed by an unlimited supply of freshwater that runs under this Island Paradise.

Many an island visitor has been seen to take a quick dip and
some even to surf the waves on this side of K'gari. All at one's own peril ...

Back in the four-wheel you travel north for aprox 30 kms on the longest beach highway known to man. Happy Valley, where you rest your head for the night, can be found just off Seventy-Five Mile Beach Road in close proximity to Eli Creek, The Meheno Shipwreck, The Coloured Sands , Tropical Rainforests Walks and Freshwater Lakes. Practising Yoga on K'gari really is a dream worth living...

The Wilderness Retreat at Happy Valley offers the Yogo adventurer all the comforts of a home away from home with privacy to boot. Accommodation is in one of only nine self-contained timber lodges, nestled into the hillside with a swimming pool for guests, a well-stocked shop and a restaurant with a-la-carte or take-away menus and bar facilities - all just a short walk from the beach. On arrival we park the 4WD and check-in for a one-night stay.

Time for you to settle in @ the Happy Valley Retreat before tucking into a delicious evening meal. After dinner we reflect on the YOGO Adventure thus far and discuss the itinerary for days 2 and 3. In the late evening we move into a Yama and Niyama memory session and practice some Pre-Dreaming Asanas before retiring for the night. Another challenging day lies ahead, beginning at sunrise on Saturday morning...
