FREE WEIGHT LIFTING - THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY

From the baby to the barbell, each and every one of us one way or another is required to lift "free weight". This lecture looks at safe and effective lifting techniques, and seeks to unravel some of the myths surrounding free weight lifting in the gym; including the latest developments re Resistance Training and Osteoporosis.

The workshop which follows the lecture one week later specifically targets the lifting exercises prescribed in the "Body Sculpt - Barbell Aerobic Classes" conducted in the Ladies Gymnasium, and the regulation lifts that identify many of the resistance training programs prescribed in the the Men's Gymnasium; viz. the dead-lift, the squat, the lunge, the bicep curl, the tricep extension and press, the front raise and the bench press.
